The Adelaide Central Market will remain closed for the day (Saturday 31 August) following a small fire this morning in level 1 of the carpark.
Police and MFS crews responded to a small fire at the UPark Central Market which has caused a significant amount of smoke and water to go through the Market complex. As a result, the Market was closed while fire crews ventilated the premises and will now remain closed for the rest of the day.
Adelaide Central Market Authority General Manager, Fabienne Reilly said, “we made the difficult decision to close the Market was made in consultation with the attending emergency services. We thank the public and our traders for their cooperation and support this morning. The Market will re-open as usual on Tuesday 3 September.”
The cause of the fire is undetermined and being investigated by police.
UPark Central Market and Market Plaza remain open and accessible for business as usual.
